Calgary, AB (April 25, 2019). It’s the start of a new soccer season and 700 youth teams are gearing up for season-opening matches beginning Saturday, April 27.

Calgary Minor Soccer Association (CMSA) works along-side the community and member-clubs to provide positive sporting opportunities for youth at both the recreational and competitive levels. The association schedules competition for teams under the age of 19; over 12,000 youth players supported by 1,700 volunteers will participate in the CMSA league this season. Throughout the spring and summer months, more than 6,000 games will take place at community fields and athletic parks across Calgary.

“It’s always an exciting time for CMSA as we get ready to welcome players and families to a new season.” Says Susan Cress, Executive Director, “CMSA continues to see growth in soccer and is delighted to have over 2,000 new players participate in our sport this season. We look forward to seeing parents fill the stands each week and would like to acknowledge the incredible volunteers who dedicate their time to supporting youth through soccer each season.”

In addition to league play, CMSA will host a number of soccer activities in the community this season including ‘Minor Soccer Week’ (June 16 - 22) and signature outdoor tournament, the Calgary Cup (August 2 - 5).
