Mount Royal University Community Engagement Coordinator at Mount Royal University

Student Learning Services is seeking a candidate for the position of a Community Engagement Coordinator limited term: August 19, 2019 - June 19, 2020 (with high probability of extension) for 35 hours/week. Reporting to the Mentorship Supervisor, the Community Engagement Coordinator primarily supports both mentorship programs within Student Learning Services: Mentors: Academic and Personal Success (MAPS) and the Harry G. Schaefer Mentorship Program. MAPS is a peer mentorship program where senior student mentor first-year students. The Harry G. Schaefer Mentorship Program connects third and fourth year students with industry mentors many of whom are MRU Alumni.

Event planning for both mentorship programs

  • Ability to bring energy, creativity and community relations expertise that will enhance the image and positive relationships of SLS

  • Provide mentorship/guidance to the student-led committees (MAPS) to plan successful events

  • Communication and promotion of all events to stakeholders

  • Communicates through multiple mediums including social media sites, web pages, invitations, and newsletters.

  • Assessment of outcomes for events

  • Research best practices for community development work and identify potential community engagement initiatives and programs.
